AMERICAN SPLENDOR Reviewed by mike_young As someone who grew up reading the comic books of American Splendor, I thought this movie really held up. It's a strange blend of documentary and docudrama that actually works because the content of American Splendor itself is so rich. Harvey Pekar is in the film, as are several of the people he's worked with over the years who have been featured in his comics. I saw it with someone who hadn't read the comic and it all made sense too, but it's definitely something else to remember reading these stories and see them brought to a movie format. Really good movie all around. |
